Matthew Mead

Matthew Mead

Matthew Mead was born in Leighton Buzzard in Bedfordshire, England. He studied at King’s College, Cambridge and then became a religious teacher in 1649. Due to the developments, which had to do with the English Restoration from 1660 onwards, there was less and less room in the English church for resistance against Roman Catholicism. Puritan ministers presented themselves thus liable to prosecution and dismissal from their posts.
